South Texas College of Law Houston, the Greater Houston Society for Healthcare Risk Management (GHSHRM), the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Doctor-Lawyer Alliance (DLA) for Emergency Care invite you to a roundtable discussion on improving policy and practice to support care for pregnant patients in Texas. This event is FREE for all attendees and offers education credits (CLE, Nursing Contact Hours, and CME) and dinner!
This roundtable is intended for clinicians, nurses, hospital counsel, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals and leaders to come together to discuss the practical challenges of providing emergency care to pregnant patients under Texas law. The program will include the Texas Medical Board-approved training developed pursuant to SB 31, presented for CME, CNE and CLE credit. This will be followed by an interdisciplinary discussion on how legal guidance, hospital policy, and clinical practice intersect in the care of pregnancy-related emergencies.
In collaboration with ACOG and Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG), we will also present a co-created sample hospital protocol and toolkit, which will be made available to participants for use at their own institutions. Participants will be invited to discuss the toolkit and share practical input on how these resources can best support healthcare institutions and professionals in providing timely, evidence-based, and legally compliant care. Following the roundtable, ACOG will be available to meet with those interested in adopting the protocol or receiving tailored support for implementation at their institutions.
